Summary:A quantitative analysis method for stability evaluation of linear constant-coefficient retarded differential difference equations (RDDE) is presented in this paper. The method is used to investigate the effects of both distributed parameters in AC transmission lines and time-lags in static VAr compensator (SVC) controllers on the subsynchronous resonance modes. Results of a sample system show that the proposed method is very effective to study the stability of power systems with time-lags.< >
