Summary:Numerous Routing Protocol designs for multi-hop wireless sensor networks proposed in literature are modelled and simulated, but only few protocols are implemented in real hardware sensor motes for a test-bed experimentation. This work focuses on a real time Hierarchical routing Protocol Implementation, which is an enhancement to the existing LevelBased Routing (LBR) Protocol available in the SENSEnuts mote Protocol stack. This enhanced algorithm achieves high packet delivery ratio without compromising the energy efficiency in a scalable multihop scenario. Real time results are found to show a significant improvement in the packet delivery ratio compared to the existing LBR.
