Summary:In this contribution, a new hybrid approach is given for the approximation of large scale LTI plants. This method is based on the balanced truncation scheme and modified Cauer continued fraction (MCCF) methodology. In this approach, the balanced realization technology is used for obtaining the denominator polynomial and the MCCF technique is used for computing the numerator polynomial. This method is proposed for circumventing the steady state error drawback of the balanced realization methodology. The proposed methodology is applied on the standard tenth order power system model taken from the literature.
