Summary:This paper proposes an efficient probability estimation design based on the Logarithmic Binary Arithmetic Coding (LBAC) in the second generation of Audio Video coding Standard (AVS2). The probability estimation process in LBAC is not stable enough in case of violent fluctuation and lack of flexibility in updating speed. The proposed design introduces two regulatory factors to mitigate the violent fluctuation and adjust the probability fluctuation all along the line. It can achieve a higher-precision and more stable probability estimation process with a hardware-friendly architecture. Experiments are carried out on JVET and AVS2 reference softwares, JEM-7.1 and RD-19.2. The results demonstrate that the proposed design can obtain a higher compression performance, up to 0.36% and 0.68% respectively.
