Summary:A True-Random Bit Generator (TRBG) based on a robust chaotic oscillator is described. The generator is performed based upon an approximation of modified chaotic tent map, which offers high robustness of chaos against parameter space regions. The chaotic dynamics are investigated in terms of bifurcation structures, Lyapunov exponent and chaotic waveform in the time-domain. The proposed oscillator automatically provides random signals without initial condition requirement. The quality of randomness is evaluated through 1,000,000 binary sequences which are verified by statistical test methods and a NIST standard tests suite. The proposed system has offered a truly random bit generation for a secure communications and fully implemented on 0.18 μm CMOS standard technology as well.
