Temperature noncritical Pockels cell based on a single KTP crystal

KTP crystals have high optical homogeneity, a relatively high Laser induced damage threshold, low operating voltage and piezoelectric response and are widely used in a variety of nonlinear optics applications, and as a crystal for electro-optic Q-switches. However, Pockels cells based on KTP crystal...

Summary:KTP crystals have high optical homogeneity, a relatively high Laser induced damage threshold, low operating voltage and piezoelectric response and are widely used in a variety of nonlinear optics applications, and as a crystal for electro-optic Q-switches. However, Pockels cells based on KTP crystals also have some disadvantages, such as the necessity of using temperature compensation scheme of two matching crystals, which must be selected beforehand. Using of such scheme provides the temperature compensation for the case of uniform heating but it is still sensitive to the temperature gradient between crystals.
