Summary:The evaluation of the SynRM saliencies for rotor position estimation using a high-frequency zero sequence signal (ZSS) injection strategy is presented in this paper. The strategy injects a ZSS and evaluates its response in the \alpha-\beta component. This ZSS does not interact with the current control and the evaluation of its response is simple, nevertheless, it requires access to the neutral point of the machine. Experimental results show that the used auxiliary signal have the information of the SynRM saliencies and that it is possible to estimate rotor position with it. Also, new error compensation methods should be studied in order to improve the well-known rotor position estimation method based on the arctangent.
