Summary:The geotechnical practice of the construction and restoration in historical downtown of Saint-Petersburg in among old residential and revenue houses, mansion-houses, architectural monuments show, that the main issue is safety of technological processes in relation to the soil massive and foundation of neighboring buildings. The proposed evaluation approach is based on the analysis of the technological features of pile technologies and the determination of the safest. Examples of technical solutions that illustrate the effectiveness of this approach are given. The use of a geotechnical barrier, compensation grouting, reinforcement of the foundations of neighboring buildings with micropiles is considered as preventive measures of protection against the construction impact.
