Compact feedforward optical transmitter without adaptive vector modulator

We have developed a compact feedforward optical transmitter using an integrated optical module for in-building radio-over-fiber systems. The optical assembly contains a distributed-feedback laser diode, p-i-n photodiode, and 45 degree-angled beam splitter. The experimental results show that the IMD3...

Summary:We have developed a compact feedforward optical transmitter using an integrated optical module for in-building radio-over-fiber systems. The optical assembly contains a distributed-feedback laser diode, p-i-n photodiode, and 45 degree-angled beam splitter. The experimental results show that the IMD3 of uncooled laser is suppressed by 24.1 dB and spurious-free dynamic range is enhanced by 7 dB. Dispersion-free transmission experiment is implemented.
