Summary:The results of a comparative analysis of the electron density in the ionospheric D-region obtained from experimental measurements using the partial reflection facility at the observatory Tumanny of Polar Geophysical Institute (69.0°N, 35.7°E) with IRI-2016 model electron density for this region were considered. To determine the adequacy of the IRI-2016 model, days with quiet geomagnetic conditions of March 2017 were chosen. Inconsistency between the model and experimental data for the regions with high electron density gradients were revealed. Based on the obtained results, new ways of improving the IRI-2016 model were proposed.
