Optical Side-Coupling of Laser-Diode Array to Fiber using Genetic Algorithm Designed Sub-Wavelength Grating

Genetic algorithm was used to design gratings with 40-nm structure to facilitate the coupling between LD array and double-clad fiber. With an aperiodic grating fabricated by E-beam lithography, a coupling efficiency of 75% was achieved.
