Summary: | Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), is a transport layer protocol mainly designed to work well in wired networks. However, TCP suffers from performance degradation in wireless environment due to the characteristics specific to the wireless networks. TCP misinterprets the wireless loss as congestion loss. TCP in heterogeneous networks fails to distinguish wireless loss from congestion and collision losses. In this paper, a cross-layer approach is proposed which surpass the channel access information to transport layer for improving the performance of TCP in heterogeneous environment. |
