IM-DD MDM transmission over 7-km MMF enabled by all-fiber mode MUX/DEMUX

We experimentally 3-mode mode division multiplexing (MDM) transmission over conventional 7-km multi-mode fiber (MMF). 10-Gb/s intensity modulation and direct detection (IM-DD) are employed. The weakly-coupled mode multiplexer/demultiplexer are realized by cascading mode-selective couplers (MSCs).
