Summary: | This paper presents simulation of AC to DC converter fed permanent magnet DC motor (PMDC) using single phase matrix converter (SPMC) topology. The use of AC-DC converter has a setback in that it draws non-sinusoidal supply current waveform with high harmonic contents. As a result it contributes to high total harmonic distortion (THD) level and low total effective supply power factor affecting the quality of the power supply system. Concern with this problem, Active Power Filter (APF) function is also presented in order to achieve high power factor and low total harmonic distortion (THD) level. Selected simulation results using MATLAB/Simulink are presented to verify the proposed operations. |
