Summary: | Low voltage power line communication (L-PLC) provides an optional and cost effective network medium. In this paper, the characteristics of L-PLC channel are studied based on the analysis of Kolmogorov entropy of this channel. Firstly, the time series measured from L-PLC network are reconstructed into a new phase space. Then the Kolmogorov entropy of series is calculated and analyzed. Consequently, the following conclusions are drawn. (1) The L-PLC channel is a chaotic system because the Kolmogorov entropy value of measured series is positive. (2) It is revealed that there exists a trustworthy time interval for channel prediction of L-PLC as the Kolmogorov entropy tends to be stable with the increase of embedding dimension. (3) The Kolmogorov entropy is greatly affected by the transmission bands and sampling interval of data measurement circuits. (4) The Kolmogorov entropy can be employed as one of the parameters to describe the characteristics of L-PLC channel, because it is correlative with the power loads to a great extent. |
