Summary:A high voltage pulse transmission line (TL) insulated by SF 6 is described which is used in high power microwave and high power pulse technology. According to requirements, we adopt compressed SF 6 gas as insulation and Polyphenylene Oxide (PPO) as support between inner and outer conductor which use corrugated structure with some depth to improve flexibility. For safety in application, stainless steel wire is used as tension component. Tests verify that attenuation of TL is 0.016dB/m when transmitting a signal with 3ns pulse width, 1kHz repetition frequency. Characteristic impedance of TL is 50Ω. Flange and transition connecter are discussed for application. In following work, breakdown strength of SF 6 gas with different pressure under pulse high voltage will be studied in order to compare to data under AC and DC situations and achieve breakdown theory of SF 6 gas under some pulse high voltage situations.
