Summary:In order to understand the significant of object-oriented programming, a propriety game-based learning mobile game has been designed and develops as a learning tool to improve the student understanding toward object-oriented programming paradigm such as encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance and polymorphism. The proposed game is a 2D role-playing mobile game named Odyssey of Phonies that allow players to learn Object-Oriented programming in an easy and interaction platform. Players will play along the flow of each game world and they will learn object-oriented programming paradigm easily. A group of 20 undergraduate degree year 1 student had been selected to participate the pilot study to determine the proposed game is able to improve their understanding toward object-oriented programming paradigm and determine the significant different between the traditional teaching and traditional teaching with game-based learning approach. Thus, this paper is a case study of an academic who worked with game designers, game developer to design and develop a propriety game- based learning game for learning object-oriented programming.
