Summary:In this paper, a wideband to multi sub-band antenna with different bandwidths is presented. This antenna is designed on a microstrip technology, printed in two sides of the substrate of the size of 32 × 40 mm 2 . By controlling the length of resonator with using ideal switches, the re-configurability of the antenna can be achieved. This antenna offers a high frequency band-width tuning from wideband (4-10 GHz) to a narrow sub-band (5.7-7 GHz). This covers several wireless communication systems, including C-band weather Radar, ISM and Satellite uplinks communications. The simulation results show that the antenna has a return loss better than 15 dB through the entire tuning bandwidths. The prototypes of the antennas with ideal switches are fabricated and measured.
