Summary:The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system has become one of the most popular systems for identifying and tracking the objects in the RFID network [2]. The RFID tracking simulator is a real-time RFID environment simulation tool for tracking objects/persons in the RFID network. This simulator tracks the path of the RFID tag movement in the network. The presented work is the part of the RFID tracking simulator that generates Electronic product code (EPC) for various classes of the RFID tags viz. Class-0 (64), Class-1G1 (96), Class-1G2 (128-256), Class-III (256-1 KB), and Class IV (4KB) up to length of 4KB depending on the type of RFID tags. The presented work, exploits the potential of novel Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-256) computed with 32-bit words for generating random patterns of n-bit EPC with a periodicity of 2 256 . The EPC generator is based on the n-tier architecture (client, RFID Middleware, RFID Database) that communicates through TCP/IP sockets. The EPC generator has tremendous application in the field simulation and conversion of data format (SGTIN, GID, DoD, GRAI, SGLN) from one to EPC.
