Summary:A moored wave-powered oceanographic profiler has been designed to measure vertical section hydrologic data. The profiler which is based on micro controller C8051F340 can provide daily 200 meter conductivity-temperature-pressure profiles for a full year. Data are collected during each profiling ascent with an instrumented float and stored in the SD memory card. Once measurements are acquired, the sensors and all electromagnetism will go into an idle mode. It is proved that the controller could achieve the control aim of the mooring system. It also realizes the goal that the system could be submerged to the designed depth using wave energy and floats to the surface of the sea by the buoyancy itself in a simple and original way. Compared with the previous profiling instruments, it can store the collected data in a mass storage card, has the capability to transmit data in real-time and can accommodate a variety of sensors.
