Summary: | This paper investigates the performance of R-ALOHA protocol in a mobile wireless environment such as an intervehicle communication (IVC) environment in which Rayleigh fading and capture effects were considered. A Monte Carlo approach modeling the R-ALOHA system in both transient and steady state was constructed to examine the system stabilization time (SST) while the system is in transient state and throughput and packet drop performance after achieving the steady state. The impact of the near-far and capture phenomenon in a mobile wireless environment on both transient and steady state of the R-ALOHA system were also examined. The numerical results with and without capture effect obtained by the simulation are presented and compared in this paper. |
