Summary:Optical Label Switching (OLS) has been proposed as a promising technology for providing resource provisioning and quality of service support. Dimensioning and optimization is a major issue affecting OLS network engineering, since the switch design and data transmission costs are basic criteria in OLS networking. In this paper, we introduce a novel technique for resource dimensioning and use optimization based on dynamic real-time management of the network resources and traffic requirements. The technique handles signaling tasks and contention resolution. We develop a scalable dimensioning and optimization problem approach based on buffering and transmission capabilities and formalize it using traffic requirements. Finally, simulation activity is performed in order to validate the proposed approach.
