Summary:This paper presents a single-stage high frequency isolated AC-AC converter applied as voltage regulator. The proposed converter uses only unidirectional switches, and it can handle voltage sags up to 0.7 p.u. The principle of operation is described, and the soft switching boundaries are obtained. Then, the loss analysis is performed considering two types of semiconductor switches (IGBT and SiC MOSFET). As result, the soft switching regions play an important role in the losses for an IGBT implementation.
