Summary:One seeks, in this paper, to compare the behaviors of four different models for HPS lamps operating with harmonic injection. Simulation results of the models are compared with experimental results for the lamp fed with sinusoidal waveforms voltages with superposed third harmonic. The behavior of incremental impedance is observed in simulation by the variation in the imposed current to the lamp. From this comparison one chooses the model presenting the best performance at low and high frequencies, obtain a frequency-domain model of the lamp and design a simple power controller to guarantee operation with constant power delivered to the lamp.
