Reliability comparison of fuel-cell DC-DC converter in two cases of using IPM switch and paralleling MOSFETs

In this paper, the reliability of a full bridge DC-DC converter for fuel cell application has been determined. In the full bridge topology, MOSFETs should be paralleled or IPM (integrated power module) must be used in order to increase current rating. In this paper it is shown that paralleling MOSFE...

Summary:In this paper, the reliability of a full bridge DC-DC converter for fuel cell application has been determined. In the full bridge topology, MOSFETs should be paralleled or IPM (integrated power module) must be used in order to increase current rating. In this paper it is shown that paralleling MOSFETs extremely decreases the reliability. But IPM switch application significantly increases the reliability in high power applications. The results are confirmed experimentally.
