Summary: | Adsorption of organic compounds on montmorillonite can be improved effectively by organic modified method. Cetyltrimethyl-ammonium Bromide (CTAB) is inserted into montnorillonite using common heating method and microwave irradiation to achieve organic montmorillonites. The adsorption effect of phenol has been used as evaluation index to optimize preparation technology, and the structure of prepared sample has been characterized using XRD and DTA-TG. The results indicate that CTAB can be inserted effectively into the interlayer of momtmorillonite within 2 min under microwave irradiation, which courses no change in the crystal structure of momtmorillonite and increases the effect on adsorption of phenol by about 10%. The arrangement of CTAB cations in OMt is the close M-type lateral-monolayer combined with the monolayer adsorbed water molecule, however, CTAB in M-OMt are arranged in the form of the orderly and loose inclination angle of 34.1o, which may be the main reason of excellent adsorption effect of phenol. |
