Summary:A large effort has been made for improving the quality of electric power in the last years. More often, the studies concern over methods and techniques to enhance monitoring systems with efficient disturbance classification. This paper proposes a method based on higher-order statistics for power quality disturbance detection and identification. Simulation results show the accuracy and capability of the proposed technique, which furnishes a reasonable performance.
