Temporal phase and amplitude reconstruction of picosecond pulses by all-optical differentiation and sampling

A simple self-referenced technique for amplitude and phase characterisation of picosecond optical pulses is demonstrated. The method exploits all-optical differentiation and sampling. Phase is calculated just from two intensity measurements.
