Summary: | BLAST (Bell Lab's Layered Space Time) system theoretically can achieve very high spectral efficiency by employing antenna arrays at both transmitter and receiver. However, in practical system BLAST performance is considerably limited. In this paper, we apply turbo coding in BLAST and modify its original structure. The new algorithm can provide significant improvement in the performance. Instead of ZF, we use the soft detection and apply turbo code to process soft information. We show that turbo code can significantly improve the performance of the BLAST system. Our result again demonstrates that coded V-BLAST (vertical BLAST) is a promising architecture to achieve the great potential of BLAST with limited complexity. |
