Summary:The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the use of accelerometers in the detection of daily motion activities as well as falls, applied to an intelligent home system for dependent adults, thus determining the effectiveness of the use of these technological components for Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) environments. The proposed system aims to get the pattern of daily motion activities such as walking, getting up from a chair or suffering a fall in different ways by means of an accelerometer plus a gyroscope in a low energy and low weight device, minimally invasive.
