Summary:At present, arsenic in the environment has caused obviously global health problem, an effective monitoring method for measuring the content of arsenic in surface water is urgent. In this paper, the silver diethyldithiocarbamate spectrophotometric method was used to measure arsenic content in surface water. It was concluded that the related coefficient for standard curve was 0.9996, the detection limits was 0.007mg / L, the relative error was below 3.6%, the recovery efficiency of standard adding material was from 90 % to 110 %, which was suitable for measuring arsenic content in large quantities of surface water and wastewater. Through measuring arsenic content in the eight sections of Fen River and in the six drainage of sewage in Taiyuan, the results showed that arsenic content didn't exceed emission standards, but which was still higher than that of the environmental water.
