Summary:An agent-based system is gaining attention in design of different control schemes in networked control system. This agent-based system can provide many layers of control and optimization algorithms for future grid which is to be resilient in its operation. With the high penetration of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation, in the smart grid, variability and uncertainty are increasing in the power systems. Accurate forecasting of PV generation and electricity demand is needed for achieving smart energy management. In this paper, consensus based leader-follower distributed control scheme is proposed for deciding the charging and discharging operations of distributed energy storage systems (DESSs) in the presence of forecast uncertainties of solar PV generation and electricity demand. Energy storing capacity of energy storage may degrade due to aging. The proposed distributed control scheme is designed based on the energy capacity of the batteries. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is tested on the load patterns of a practical power distribution system.
