Summary: | This study shows the effect on the morphological structures and surfaces of kenaf fibres after being treated with hydrothermal treatments at three different temperatures using laboratory autoclave. Kenaf fibres were treated using hydrothermal treatments for 30 minutes. The morphology of the kenaf fibres after and before the hydrothermal treatments reveals the true conditions of the kenaf fibres. To investigate the conditions of the fibres in ultrastructure level Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) was used. Severe condition can be seen on the kenaf fibres with the cracks and damages on the kenaf structures after the treatment when compared with untreated. |
