Second-harmonic generation from flashlamp-pumped dye lasers at microseconds pulses

A tunable source for UV spectroscopy with 1.5-/spl mu/s pulse duration based on SHG of flash lamp pumped dye laser radiation was developed. The influence of the spatial and spectral characteristics of the laser beam on the efficiency of SHG is determined. We have found that spectral bandwidth should...

Summary:A tunable source for UV spectroscopy with 1.5-/spl mu/s pulse duration based on SHG of flash lamp pumped dye laser radiation was developed. The influence of the spatial and spectral characteristics of the laser beam on the efficiency of SHG is determined. We have found that spectral bandwidth should not exceed 0.1 nm, and beam divergence should be at least less than 1 mrad for SHG.
