Summary: | A novel AC voltage regulator topology is proposed. The output voltage is varied by controlling the voltage drop of the transformer which is connected with load in series. The range of thyristor firing angle is from 90 degrees to 180 degrees for inverting operation. The output voltage is varied from zero to source voltage as the firing angle is controlled from 180 degrees to 90 degrees . The waveform of the output voltage is clamped sinusoidal; harmonic components are remarkably decreased compared with the conventional thyristor phase control. The feasibility of the proposed topology is verified experimentally.< > |
