Broadband SAW-convolver, using dispersive IDTs with capacitive weighting

The problem of development of SAW convolvers with a wide relative passband and linear phase is decided by use of IDTs with capacitive weighting. A degenerate convolver with central frequency 95 MHz, relative passband of 36% and time of integration 20 /spl mu/s was investigated. Dispersive IDTs with...

Summary:The problem of development of SAW convolvers with a wide relative passband and linear phase is decided by use of IDTs with capacitive weighting. A degenerate convolver with central frequency 95 MHz, relative passband of 36% and time of integration 20 /spl mu/s was investigated. Dispersive IDTs with capacitive weighting for excitation of SAW were used. Uniform distribution of acoustic energy under the aperture of an acoustic beam takes place in the convolver, and diffraction effects are infinitesimally small. Additionally, it is easy to control the frequency response, that permits compensation for distortions arising in external electronic circuits.
