Summary:Frequency deviation is a common power quality disturbance in islanded power systems such as ships. This study has investigated the effect of main supply frequency transient on an uninterruptible power supply (UPS)-based equipment. The current behavior was measured by a multipoint measurement technique. During the frequency transient, amplitude modulation occurs due to the difference in operating frequency between the UPS input and output. The side effects are the appearance of electromagnetic interference and an increase in maximum current.
