Summary:Carbonate Halides Three new carbonate halides, Cs3Pb2(CO3)3I (CPCI), KBa2(CO3)2F (KBCF), and RbBa2(CO3)2F (RBCF) are reported by Y. Yang, Z. Yang, S. Pan et al. in their Full Paper on page 2944 ff. CPCI features a 2D layered structure, which, owing to the arrangement of CO3 units and the stereoactive Pb2+, displays moderate birefringence. KBCF and RBCF adopt a honeycomb‐like framework. Through comparison of these structures with other carbonate fluorides, it is illustrated that the quantity and distribution of O atoms and the position of divalent cations play essential roles in determining the arrangement of CO3 groups.
