Summary:Although stainless steels are widely used in industry due to their high corrosion resistance, low surface hardness is considered a disadvantage when exposed to repeated loads. In this study, the effects of coating the surfaces of 904L super austenitic stainless steel by the Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) method using grey and white alumina on microstructural and tribological properties were investigated. According to the results of the examination, a flat homogeneous coating layer was obtained. In the coatings made with both materials, α-Al 2 O 3 and γ-Al 2 O 3 phases were formed on the surface. Although the coating layer thickness is higher in grey alumina, the hardness is higher in coatings made with white alumina, and the surface hardness has increased by 2-3 times. According to the wear tests, it was determined that the wear resistance of white alumina was higher and the wear resistance of the alumina coating increased 3-4 times.
