Summary: | Religion is vulnerable to being distracted by modernity due to classical traditions and irrational paradigms that are difficult for religious communities to abandon. However, the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has made it difficult for Muslim communities to be resistant so they need to respond to the emerging wave of modernity. This paper aims to analyze the response of the Muslim community to the currents of modernity that occurred in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. This research is qualitative research that uses a normative approach. The data are sourced from books, journal articles, and encyclopedias. This study concludes that essentially, the response of the Muslim community in the Industrial Revolution era tended to be open. The fundamental values of modernity did not necessarily distance religion from technological progress because of the nature of Islam, which is open to changing times (adaptive-inclusive). Openness to religious values and modernity has paved the way for modern Muslim society to move together and collaborate to build an integrated system. In the economic aspect, for example, the halal industry is becoming more advanced and flexible. Openness to the education aspect has built a technology-based Islamic education ecosystem that is easily accessible to people in various regions. |
