Summary: | Battery operated wireless sensor nodes, wireless network systems, autonomous underwater vehicles and underwater surveillance systems are in huge demand for maritime security and surveillance. Most of these systems are powered using rechargeable batteries. Recharging the batteries of these systems is considered as one of the challenges. In this paper, indigeneous design and development of contactless underwater battery charger is reported. The proposed system is designed using two approaches and their performances are compared and reported. The performance of 300W contactless underwater battery charger system designed is assessed under various test conditions and the results are reported. The proposed system can be easily adapted for various domestic applications too such as contactless pads to charge mobile phones, tablets, electric toothbrushes, electric shavers etc. |
