Summary:The parallel higher-order method of moments is used to simulate a patch array antenna placed on an aircraft using up to 2048 CPU cores of the platform form Shanghai Supercomputer Center. To save the computation time and resources, the simulation is also performed for the patch array placed on a section of the aircraft. The comparison is made to investigate whether using the simplified model is sufficient in evaluating the main lobe area of the radiation pattern. Benchmark results show that the simplified model needs only 50% the number of unknowns of the whole model, and the computation time can be reduced drastically. This study shows that using simplified model can be a very efficient way for simulations of antenna placement. (4 pages)
