Summary:The aim of this paper is the experimental comparative evaluation of two DC-DC converters (choppers) of onequadrant using conventional Si and SiC semiconductors, respectively. Two prototypes were built including all the necessary control and auxiliary circuits. The comparison of these two drives reveals the higher efficiency of the silicon carbide motor drive compared to the silicon one.
