Summary:In this paper, a radar cross section (RCS) measurement method based on anechoic extrapolation facility is proposed. This method is derived directly from the radar equation and does not require the prior information of a known target, so it is an absolute measurement method. During the measurement, the anechoic extrapolation facility moves the transmit and receive antenna from the near-field to the far-field, then the RCS of the target can be obtained by fitting test data at different distances. Experimental results show that the difference between the measured RCS and the simulated RCS by the method of moments (MoM) is less than 0.21 dB for the plate and less than 0.5 dB for the dihedral in X-band.
