Summary:There was a need to perform induced overpotential tests with partial discharge measurements as well as ratio and phase angle accuracy measurements on eight 550 kV inductive voltage transformers. This required the voltage transformers to be energized from the high voltage winding. The induced test at 120 Hz was accomplished by the combination of the voltage source converter of a power transformer test system and a series resonant test circuit. The accuracy measurements at 60 Hz rated voltage involved the series resonant circuit together with a compressed gas standard capacitor.
