Summary:This paper examines some South East European countries readiness to develop digital economy by analyzing and comparing several key measuring indicators. Although these countries have created the basement for digital economy development, more intensive activities are needed in the future in order to create proper environment for further development of digital economy (education, innovation, organizational transformation, etc.). For these countries digital economy will be an opportunity to realize long-term economic development and overcome recession.
