Summary:Demand for monitoring systems for gas facilities has dramatically increased with the technological development of the Internet of Things (IoT). In this paper, we propose two sets of gateway and sensor nodes for monitoring gas facilities. They improve the efficiency of comprehensive management, including collecting sensing data and controlling gas-related risk factors, at remote gas facility sites with IoT-based monitoring systems. In addition, because of their different characteristics in hardware and communication protocols, they provide an option to select suitable devices that consider the surrounding environment. In order to evaluate the proposed devices, we properly installed gateways and sensor nodes near operating gas facilities and verified their operation.
