Enhanced gain using Raman-FOPA hybrid amplifier for L-Band 96 × 100 Gbps DWDM systems

We demonstrate a novel Raman-FOPA cascaded amplifier for long haul L-band 96 × 100 Gbps Dense wavelength multiplexed (DWDM) system with 25 Ghz channel spacing. With input power of 1mW flat gain ¿ 13 dB has been achieved over frequency range of 187 Thz to 189.375 THz. Flattened gain has been achieved...

Summary:We demonstrate a novel Raman-FOPA cascaded amplifier for long haul L-band 96 × 100 Gbps Dense wavelength multiplexed (DWDM) system with 25 Ghz channel spacing. With input power of 1mW flat gain ¿ 13 dB has been achieved over frequency range of 187 Thz to 189.375 THz. Flattened gain has been achieved using a gain flattening filter in FOPA. The proposed model has been evaluated in terms of signal gain and OSNR. Gain achieved with ¡ 1.5 dB ripple has been highest for Raman-FOPA ever reported in L-band extending the feasibility of Raman- FOPA hybrid amplifier for future long haul UDWDM (Ultra DWDM) systems .
