Summary:The velocity of pitched ball is one of the major interests in baseball. We developed an iPhone6 application "iPhoneSG", by which we can measure the the velocity on the field in near real-time at the precision in the range of ±1km/h, using standalone image processing technique on it. In contrast with trasitional Rader Speed Guns, which must be placed on the extended line of the ball movement to work, iPhoneSG does the job from lateral direction of the ball trajectories. iPhoneSG widens the possible area of data aquisition. Moreover, we can share and analise the pitched ball data easily and quickly with mobile phone's network abilities.
