Summary:Ultrasonic images are generally affected by multiplicative shot noise. This paper analyzes and models the coefficients of 2-D multiresolution wavelet decomposition of logarithmically transformed images using alpha stable distribution. We propose a new function that performs a nonlinear operation on the data of classifying the coefficients, thus get a new noise-removal method based on multiresolution wavelet decomposition and alpha stable model.
